After the Storm
By Mark Brotherton
At the end of another long day the guys in the tent were talking about one of their favorite subjects: what they were going to do when they finally got home. All agreed “female companionship” would be first…
One troop said, “When I get home I want a huge T-Bone steak with all the fixings!”
The other replied, “I want to take a 3 hour long hot bath.”
“Hey Sarge,” one of the young troops called out to the ranking NCO, a Vietnam Vet, “what do you want when you get back?”
Came the sobering reply, “I just want to return to a grateful nation.”
As they shut out the lights, one said “Good night America, sleep in peace.”
