One Year
Anniversary
It has been about one year since I first shared this collection of quotes. I started the site with one long page. It has expanded to
include not only quotes, but songs, poems, and inspirational stories as well.
I'd like to thank all of you who visit faithfully each day. I appreciate each and every IM, e-mail, and
guest book entry. Your words mean the world to me, and are truly the encouragement I need to continue maintaining this website. The quotes have really shown me many things about love and friendship. Posted below are some of the things I have learned this past year.
I have learned that people may not always remember what you say....but they will always remember how you make them feel.
I have learned that you have to "listen for love."
I have learned that we never know how what we share with others may affect them and just how meaningful it could be to them. We should always share freely.
I have learned that "Real love begins where nothing is expected in return"....Antoine de
Saint-Exupéry.
I have learned that "Our love must not be a thing of words and fine talk. It must be a thing of action and sincerity"....I John 3:18.
I have learned that a friend is one who shares, and listens, and shows a genuine desire to know us. "Listening is a magnetic and strange thing, a creative force. The friends who listen to us are the ones we move toward. When we are listened to, it creates us, makes us unfold and expand"....Dr. Karl Augustus
Menninger.
I have learned that a friend is "always there even when he would rather have been somewhere else."
I have learned that Jesus Christ is not only our Savior....but also our forever Friend.
I have learned that...."To love without expected return on my investment frees me to love with purity of heart, mind and soul...I am not distracted by selfish motive or disappointed by insensitivity...I am free to love...just love"....L. Hodge.
I have learned that "A friend is one to whom one can pour out all the contents of one's heart, chaff and grain together, knowing that the gentlest of hands will take and sift it, keeping what is worth keeping, and, with the breath of kindness, blow the rest away"....Arabian Proverb.
I have learned that love should be accompanied by a very deep friendship, because love without friendship is nothing.
I have learned that life really isn't about me, but it is....it is about me forgetting myself and being a friend without expecting anything.
I have learned that answers to prayers always come....but sometimes they are in disguise. "When you ask God for a gift, Be thankful if he sends, Not diamonds, pearls or riches, but the love of real true friends"....Helen Steiner Rice.
I have learned to have a healthy respect for those who serve our country. They allow me to live each day any way I so choose.
I have learned that those who willingly serve do so by sacrificing many of the little things that I take for granted each day.
I have learned that others freely serving in our military keeps some of us from being forced to serve our country.
I have learned that those who serve defend my right to say whatever I want, even when they disagree with my words.
I have learned that I am responsible for myself. If I don't like what is happening, I am responsible to change what I can....not to expect the other person to change.
I have learned that when we are in love and friendship relationships, we should never try to do what we think will make the other person happy. What we are doing should make them happy.
I have learned that you should always share all that is inside of you with others. You never know who is really listening....and what they are listening for. Just give all that you have to give, never expecting anything in return.
I have learned that "Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some people move our souls to dance. They awaken us to the understanding with the passing whisper of their wisdom. Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon. They stay in our lives for a while, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never, ever the same." And it's a very wonderful thing....
I have learned that love does hurt....but never on purpose.
I have learned that you can love someone and not be "in" love with them.
I have learned that friends are always beautiful.
I have learned that love doesn't say "I love you, but" or "If you loved me, you would..."
I have learned that friendship is born in an instant.
I have learned that you never lose a real friend by taking a stand....because the friendship that can cease has never been real....
