Thank You for My World

I know there is peace in my world
When I hear resonant tones of singing choirs
Of children's voices raised with praise
In thanksgiving for bountiful hours.

I know there is peace in my world
When I smell and see a beautiful rose
And I thank God for every flower,
Tree and plant for food that grows.

I can feel peace in my world
When respect for all is shown,
When we treat others as ourselves,
Thank God how America's grown.

I can touch peace in my world
When I hug my friends and kin,
Thanking God for every person
Who makes me smile or grin.

I can teach peace in this world
By writing essays, books and poems,
A God-given opportunity
To spread peace abroad and at home.

I am thankful for freedom of choice
To worship where I can be me,
Of travel, of press and of voice
America is still a land that is free.
